Treasured Moments Tuesdays: Oh the things kids say!

Welcome to Treasured Moments Tuesdays!

This will be a monthly post here at After School Club Ideas. The goal is to have readers comment below and share the treasured moments that they have shared with children.

Children are truly a gift. They can say the silliest things and make you laugh and they can awe you with their incredible thirst for knowledge. Sometimes there are even those moments when they make stop in your tracks and think, “Wow, I just learned something new from a 5 year old” or ” I needed reminding that life lesson I may have forgotten along the way.”

Here is mine for this month:

I was having one of “those days”. Maybe you have had them too? Where one thing goes wrong at the beginning of the day, followed by several more wrong things, which therefore puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day? You try to avoid it but your mood is altered and every single sound seems to make you a little more irritated?

Well, on one of “those days,” I was approached my one of my young friends who had a huge smile on his face and something he wanted to tell me. He looked up at me and said, “Every morning I wake up in my bed and I smile and I tell myself, today is a new day, and I am happy, so I smile, and I know it is going to be a good day.” I told him how great it was that he thought that way. He then walked away and I took a deep breath in and back out. Wow! How did the universe know I needed to hear that at that very moment? And how precious is it that this young child wakes up each day repeating this mantra to himself? Whenever I get down on myself I think of what this child said to me that day – he certainly taught me a lesson worth remembering!

Have you ever had any of these treasured moments with the children in your life? As a parent, teacher or even a friend? Please leave your comments below or click the Save/Share button to share on Facebook or Twitter! I am anxious to hear from you!
